The cellular phone strap has its roots in the Edo period of Japan. Origin of cellular phone strap is "Netsuke".
Netsuke is a Japanese original, small, minute sculpture that is made as a skid of the string, and used to lower the carrying thing such as putting "Inrou" (normally used as a pill case, though it is also an identification item for proving the person belongs to a higher position in the Edo government), the purse, or the cigarette box to the belt of the waist and to carry, and developed even to the region of the decoration work of art in Edo period.
From olden, the Japanese was good at making to the character about the person, the animal, and the plant, etc. by extracting the feature of the object simply and making it to the design skillfully. Moreover, Japanese were excellent in respect of the skill of a minute craft of elaborately sculpturing the miniature, for example, Bonsai, Hakoniwa(miniature garden), and Chashitsu(tearoom).
